How it Works
Electronic stimulation of the nervous system has been used in hospitals worldwide for some time, in order to alleviate pain in birth and in cases where pain medication is not appropriate. An example of this is the TENS machine. It transmits electrical impulses – programmed to work just as endogenous nerve impulses do — through the skin to the nervous system.
Use of this approach is somewhat limited to short-term acute pain because the machines currently used send out uniform impulses. This means before long, your body gets used to the signals and they cease to cause a reaction. The machine becomes ineffective and, over time, may be counter-productive. SCENAR is the next generation of pain treatment.
The SCENAR enables practitioners to communicate directly with a client’s central nervous system, stimulating the natural adaptive processes of the body and nervous system so that the body can heal itself. The SCENAR sends electronic impulses through the nerve fibres, causing the brain to release a measured dose of the body’s own powerful internal pharmacy of bio-active compounds directly to the site of pain. Included in this is are neuropeptides, some of the most powerful pain relief agents the body produces, and widely regarded as one of the most powerful healing compounds.
The software algorithms used in the SCENAR mimic the nervous system’s own impulses. By constantly monitoring changes in resistance, the signal output adapts to your body’s demands every few milliseconds. This ensures that the stimulation is always both appropriate and effective. What to Expect
When visiting a S.C.E.N.A.R. practitioner, please wear easy to remove clothing as the S.C.E.N.A.R. device will need to be brought in contact with your skin. The location of this contact will depend entirely on the presenting symptoms at the time of your visit and the treatment protocol selected by your practitioner.
On your first visit you will be asked to complete a fairly comprehensive health questionnaire which will assist your practitioner select the most suitable protocol for your presenting symptoms. Following this first interview you will have your first treatment; depending on this, your therapist will discuss a course of treatments with you. Typically, depending on the cause of the pain for which you have sought treatment, a course of treatment will involve between 5 – 10 visits to a S.C.E.N.A.R. practitioner spaced over a week or two. In hospital situations in Europe two times a day is common but in a clinic setting it may be once a days for a few days or every other day for a little longer.
On your first visit we ask you come in about 10 minutes before your scheduled appointment so you can fill out a client intake or download it off the website and bring it with you.
Your initial visit will be comprehensive so please allow at least an hour for your treatment.
What will happen during the treatment?
The SCENARdevice is a small hand held unit and the therapist will apply it onto your skin, typically at the site of pain. It will not be painful.
The SCENARis used to identify key points for optimal treatment.
The treatment can last for approximately 30 minutes to 45 minutes for most people. Even after 10 minutes of SCENARthere may be a reduction of pain.
For acute complaints the appointment time is usually about 30 minutes.
For chronic complaints the appointment time is usually about 45 minutes.
Typically your pain will reduce immediately after the SCENAR treatment although there may be some residual pain. As pain relief is achieved through the release of the body’s own endorphins and other neuropeptides, the full effect from your SCENARtreatment can be expected within the following couple of hours.
You will be asked to keep note of any changes you experience after your initial treatment; good or bad. These changes are important and help to guide a therapist through the SCENARtreatment process.
You may feel thirsty, so drink plenty of water following SCENARtreatment.
